Car crashes into Pelham Bay preschool

A car crashed into a building–landing just feet away from where kids were learning in their classrooms. at Steppingstone Day School. A Chevy Equinox was trying to pull into a parking space when instead it ended up crashing into the front entrance of the school on 2826 Westchester Ave.between Mayflower Ave. & Mulford Ave. The driver was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi with minor injuries. Parents were called to pick up their children shortly after dropping them off.and were told not to bring their kids back until after the holiday weekend. The city’s Department of Buildings says the impact damaged a door and a wall inside the building. Crews from the DOB also responded to the scene to assess the damage. They say there was no structural damage to the building. Work is already underway to make those necessary repairs.
