The National Black Church Initiative, a coalition of 34,000 churches representing 27.7 million African Americans has joined over 150,000 faith communities to demand resignation of Jerry Falwell Jr from Liberty University.

While disclosing this in a statement, NBCI stated the decision was as result of the revelation of his sexual behavior.

NBCI and other faith communities concluded that he is the wrong person to lead Liberty University.

“His father, the Rev. Jerry Falwell Sr., was a man who never embarrassed the church concerning his personal morality, but his social Christian ethics were the issues.

“The student and faculty who work every day to uphold the ethics and teachings of Christ should not be held morally hostages to the sexual deviants of Falwell junior and his wife,” the statement reads.

Rev. Anthony Evans, President of the National Black Church Initiative said, “Now everyone can see why God Almighty through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior is angry with the Christian Church and us leaders.

“Jerry Falwell Jr is a symptom of a very sick church and we need God’s mercy and grace.

“I am asking all 2.4 billion Christians to fall on their knees and repent and ask God through Christ to heal us of sexual immorality and have mercy upon our souls! IN THE NAME OF JESUS!!,” Evans said.
