Israeli warplanes unleashed a wave of over 60 airstrikes on Syrian territory late Saturday and into early Sunday, targeting military and infrastructure sites near Damascus. Syrian sources reported that the attacks occurred within five hours and were still ongoing as of the latest updates.

“This is a blatant act of aggression and a violation of our sovereignty,” a Syrian official stated. The government has filed a formal complaint with the United Nations, condemning the strikes as part of Israel’s broader strategy to destabilize the region.

Syria’s de facto leader, Abu Mohammad al-Jolani, criticized Israel’s actions but ruled out direct retaliation for now. “We condemn these attacks and the continuous occupation of Syrian land, but our focus remains on internal stability,” al-Jolani said.

The airstrikes have intensified tensions in the region, with many questioning Israel’s motives. “These attacks are not just military actions; they are calculated efforts to weaken Syria at its core,” another Syrian official remarked.

Observers fear the escalation could further destabilize Syria, which is already grappling with economic struggles and ongoing conflict. Calls for international intervention have grown louder as the crisis deepens.
