Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi has called for an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal to “take over” Gaza. The request, made during a phone call with Tunisian Foreign Minister Mohamed Ali Nafti on Saturday, was confirmed in a statement from Iran’s Foreign Ministry.

Trump’s plan, announced on February 4, includes U.S. control over Gaza and the forced resettlement of its Palestinian population to other regions. He described his vision of transforming the territory into “the Riviera of the Middle East,” a proposal that has triggered global condemnation, including from Palestinians, Arab nations, Canada, France, Germany, and the UK.

Araghchi denounced the plan as part of a broader “colonial plot” aimed at “erasing Palestine” and stressed that the OIC, which was founded to support Palestine and Jerusalem, must convene immediately to discuss a collective response. He urged Muslim nations to take swift and coordinated action, calling the proposal a severe threat to the Palestinian people’s future.

Nafti echoed these concerns, reaffirming that Gaza and the West Bank are integral to Palestine and warning that any attempt to expel Palestinians from their land is “unacceptable.”
