Supporters of New York City Mayor Eric Adams have denounced what they describe as a coordinated “swift boating” campaign by political rivals, insisting the mayor remains fully committed to seeking reelection on November 4.

At an emergency press conference held on Thursday, September 18, 2025, representatives from diverse communities across the city dismissed recent media reports suggesting Adams was considering dropping out of the race. They described the claims as “slick and misleading,” accusing opponents of deliberately spreading misinformation to weaken the mayor’s chances.

“Contrary to these mischievous media reports, Mayor Adams has repeatedly and forcefully declared his unconditional commitment to his reelection,” the group emphasized.

During the briefing, supporters also underscored the sharp differences between the mayor’s policy proposals and those of his challengers, arguing that the distortions were aimed at diverting attention from substantive debate.

To reinforce their stance, organizers circulated a press release to more than 300 media outlets and every elected official in both city and state government. They also confirmed that at least two media interviews have already been granted to further counter the narrative.

“We’ve fulfilled our commitment and achieved our objective,” the group said, stressing that the campaign’s momentum remains undeterred.
