As part of the implementation of the Regional Agenda for Strengthening Nutrition in Policies, Strategies, and Sectoral Programmes in West Africa, the ECOWAS Commission, through its Directorate of Agriculture and Rural Development and with technical support from the World Food Programme (WFP), has organized a regional capacity-building workshop focused on integrating nutrition into school feeding programmes across West Africa.

The workshop was held in Dakar, Senegal, from September 30 to October 3, 2025. It brought together sixteen (16) coordinators of ECOWAS-funded school feeding projects under the Project for Promoting an Integrated School Feeding Model in West Africa (PMAI-WA), as well as experts responsible for implementing national school feeding programmes within member states’ sectoral ministries and technical partner organizations, including WFP, CRS, and ACF.

This initiative underscores ECOWAS’s commitment to building a West Africa where every child has access to safe, nutritious, and sustainable school meals—laying the foundation for a healthier and more prosperous future for the region.
