Trump Threatens $1 Billion Lawsuit Against BBC Over January 6 Documentary

U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened to file a $1 billion defamation lawsuit against the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), accusing the network of publishing false and damaging claims in its Panorama documentary about his January 6, 2021 speech.
According to Trump, the program misrepresented his remarks leading up to the U.S. Capitol riot, allegedly omitting key portions of his speech where he urged supporters to “protest peacefully.”
The BBC is reportedly facing internal scrutiny over the documentary’s handling of key details, amid accusations of bias and factual distortion.
Trump has issued the broadcaster a Friday deadline to issue a correction and public apology or face legal action.
Neither the BBC nor its Panorama team has publicly responded to Trump’s threat as of press time.
