Editorial | American Elections: The Last Lapse of Presidential Campaign Flattery

We all know that by this time next week, American people will have decided what the fate and future of this country will look like for the next four years. Ex-Vice President Joe Biden and incumbent President Donald J. Trump are the only two individuals chosen by Americans to compete for the sacred post in this 2020 election. They have both been touring the country, despite the Covid-19 situation in the country, to woo huge number of voters to their sides, particularly in swing states like Arizona, Florida, Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

President Trump, on one hand, has been tiredlessly campaigning with self-acclaimed achievements within three years, despite Covid-19 pandemic which claimed over 250,000 American lives. He, in fact, blames ‘lamestream’ media like Fox News, MSNBC, CNN and others for overblowing the situation and using it against his candidacy, terming him as a President who is incapable to have a second term.

“Covid, Covid, Covid is the unified chant of the Fake News Lamestream Media. They will talk about nothing else until November 4th, when the Election will be (hopefully!) over. Then the talk will be how low the death rate is, plenty of hospital rooms, and many tests of young people,” Trump once said. Trump therefore believes that his opponents is being supported ‘hugely’ by the Wall Street lords who are majorly in control of this so-called ‘Lamestream Media’ outlets.

“The biggest difference between now and 2016 is Fox News. They are a whole different deal…Now Fox News is playing Obama’s no crowd, fake speech for Biden, a man he could barely endorse because he couldn’t believe he won,” Trump noted.

Having accepted that the pandemic wasn’t properly managed at the initial stage of its arrival in the States, President Trump claimed, “Death rate of people going into hospitals is MUCH LOWER now than it was. The fact is that we have learned and done a lot about this Virus. Much different now than when it first arrived on our shores, and the World, from China!”

Also, President Trump has accused his opponent of being one of the most corrupt politicians in American history, as according to Trump, Joe Biden enriched his family members, especially when he was the Vice President of the country. He further accused him of conniving with the Chinese government to selfishly destroy the economy of the United States.

Trump said in one of his posts on Facebook, “Joe Biden is a corrupt politician. He wants to send YOUR jobs to China, while his family rakes in millions from the Chinese Communist Party. If Biden wins, China will OWN the USA. When we win, YOU win, Wisconsin wins, and AMERICA wins!’
More so, President Trump summed up his description of his opponent has an ignoramus full of ‘All talk and no action!’.

Additionally, President Trump claims to be the most patriotic American President in history who is passionately concerned about the security and welfare of its citizens. And undoubtedly that’s why he uses the powers given to him as the President of the United States to cage immigrant children and send away their parents from the country and spend heavily on building walls around the Mexican borders to drastically reduce the influx of non-citizens into the country.

He also claims to have achieved the “most Secure Border in U.S. history!” He believes that immigration plan is completely ‘insane’ as, according to Trump, it eliminates U.S. borders by implementing nationwide catch-and-release. This is the single reason why he said that ‘Joe Biden would make every community into a Sanctuary City for violent criminals’.

Trump believes that he is a defender of freedom and justice. Recently, he termed the confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett to the United States Supreme Court as ‘history’ and he believes that Justice Barrett ‘will defend our rights, our liberties, and our God-Given FREEDOM!’

In addition, Trump tags himself as a unique American President who doesn’t like to play by the rules of the game, as he believes that politicians who typically follow the Washington Political Establishment are egocentric and not patriotic and that is why he repeatedly declares that he is not a politician, but a nationalist.

Lastly, Trump fondly says he stands for ‘recovery’, as Biden’s ‘depression’; economic ‘boom’, as against Biden’s ‘lockdown’; and the plan to kill the ‘china’ virus, as against Biden’s plan to kill the ‘American Dream’.

However, according to Ex-Vice President Joe Biden, there are countless reasons why Donald Trump should never be re-elected. One of them is that, according to Biden, Trump is a bad nepotistic leader who has created more disunity in terms of race, gender, socio-economic class and sexual orientation. He said, “If Donald Trump gets another four years. That means another four years of division. Four years where we fail to grasp the opportunity at hand for each and every American.” “All Donald Trump does is fan the flames of division in our society. He is incapable of doing the real work to bring people together. We will,” he added.

He further said that Trump is a core racist whose leadership system promotes anti-Semitic white supremacists to create mayhem and perpetrate atrocities in the United States. He summed this divisive administrative operation of President Donald J. Trump thus: “Two years ago, a white supremacist entered Pittsburgh’s Tree of Life Synagogue and perpetrated the deadliest anti-Semitic attack in American history. Eleven innocent lives were taken that Shabbat morning, ripped away from their families by a lone gunman taking long time forces of bigotry and prejudice to their violent conclusion. This act of terror was not only an assault against the Jewish community of Pittsburgh — it was a strike against the soul of our nation and the values for which America stands.

“When anti-Semitism is allowed to fester, it shreds the fabric of our communities and erodes our soul. We must stand up and speak out whenever and wherever it rears its head, because silence can become complicity. If we are ever to reach our full potential as a nation, we must banish hatred, bigotry, and conspiratorial fanaticism to the dustbin of history — and choose a path of dignity and respect for all people.”

In almost every campaign he attends, Joe Biden accuses Trump of being a bad administrator and a liar with thick skin and anti-scientific ideologies, who has damaged all developmental sectors of the country, viz-a-viz economy, health, environment, law and order, and the country’s unique democratic system.

Biden once said in one of his posts online, “This election is bigger than any one candidate. The future of our economy, our health care, our climate, our commitment to racial justice, our democracy, and so much more is on the ballot. Together, we can beat President Trump and restore the soul of our nation.”

Biden therefore promised that, if elected President, “I would marshal the ingenuity and good will of this nation to turn division into unity and bring us together.”

In conclusion, all these campaign beats are still on-going until the election day. Hopefully, the hullabaloo will be over by November 1st. However, the only critical remains in these would be: Since Trump is adamant on making his stand on the outcome of the election, will he and his followers accept defeat or not? Will this election make or mar America? President Donald J. Trump is yet to decide whether he would accept the defeat or not. In any case, we hope to have a peaceful and better America before, during and after this election.
