Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has expressed his best wishes for Jadon Sancho’s return to Borussia Dortmund after the English winger’s loan move back to his former club. Sancho’s stint at Old Trafford faced challenges, leading to a temporary departure following a strained relationship with Ten Hag.

The 23-year-old, who joined United from Dortmund in 2021, struggled to secure playing time and clashed with Ten Hag over his role, leading to a period of isolation after being labeled a “scapegoat.”

Having trained separately from the squad since August, Sancho has returned to Dortmund for the remainder of the season without an option to buy, expressing that it feels like “coming home.” Regarding Sancho’s departure, Ten Hag conveyed his best wishes, stating, “I hope he’s doing well, and he will be a success.” The manager, who has been reserved about discussing Sancho during the four-month absence, refrained from providing insights into the forward’s long-term future.

As Ten Hag faces questions about player options ahead of Sunday’s clash against Tottenham, he mentioned the potential involvement of Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro’s return to training after a hamstring complaint, and Christian Eriksen’s availability after illness.

Despite Sancho’s departure, Ten Hag remains focused on improving the team’s form, addressing challenges faced by Antony, who joined from Ajax in 2022. Ten Hag attributed Antony’s recent struggles to off-field issues and expressed confidence in the player’s capability to deliver better performances based on his successful history at Ajax.
