Nigerian doctor honored for helping Pfizer develop first COVID-19 vaccine

A US-based Nigerian doctor, Dr. Onyema Ogbuagbu, has been honored for helping Pfizer, a US drug company develop the first effective COVID-19 vaccine.

While disclosing this on its Facebook page, US Mission Nigeria noted that Nigerians contribute to the world in so many ways.

“Our hats off to Dr. Onyema Ogbuagbu at Yale who helped develop a COVID-19 vaccine!” it said.

“Dr. Onyema Ogbuagbu, a Nigerian doctor helped the drug company Pfizer develop the first effective COVID-19 vaccine in the United States!” it added.

Onyema, who made an incredible contribution to end the world-wide pandemic, is an associate Professor of Medicine and Infectious Disease at Yale School of Medicine.

He graduated with a degree in medicine from the University of Calabar in 2003

While commenting on the achievement on Facebook, George Favour commented that “Every single Nigerian youth is brilliant and ready to do something to change the world for the better.”

He added that the problem with the country is “it’s leaders who are destiny killers.”

“We strive anywhere but here in Nigeria, striving is difficult, life is hard and tomorrow’s prof languishes in the street of hopelessness.

“We want out of this nation, the thieving elites won’t even allow us change anything,” Favour said.
