Kenya Forces on Sunday raided a stronghold of Al Shabaab militants and destroyed their camp, killing several members in the Boni Forest of Lamu County, north east of Mombasa-Kenya.
The raid comes a few days after one suspected al shabaab member attacked Kenyan border patrol unit officers who were escorting passengers along Lamu road.
However, the number of the killed militants is not clearly established but photos shared by New York Parrot sources depicted four bodies of the terror group and one was beheaded.
The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) recovered hand grenades, mini solar panels, several guns, thousands of bullets, radios among other assortments.
According to the government officials, the militants plan to attack Kenya during the festive season has been thwarted.
“All our security forces have been deployed in the key areas. You heard that the other day our officers foiled an attack by those people and that was because of the readiness by our officers. We have things under control,” said Coast Regional Commissioner John Elungata.
During the ambush, KDF soldiers also arrested one terrorist and are holding him for interrogation.
