Nigeria: Digprom launches first exhibition to expose kids to coding

Digprom, a tech organization in Ilorin, Kwara State, has launched its first exhibition to kids between the ages of 6 and 15 who have been well trained in the world of technology.

While disclosing this on Saturday December 5, 2020, Mr Ishola Kayode, the team leader, stated that the exhibition is aimed at building a generation of young people who will transform Africa’s tech ecosystem from being consumer of technology to innovator and producer.

In his welcoming speech, Kayode noted that the team has actively engaged the kids and given them the knowledge and skills they need to thrive and contribute significantly to the tech world.

He added that the training given included game creation, animation, mathematics problem solving and other innovative products using programming language.

The exhibition which is the first of its kind was attended by the representative of the Kwara State Governor, Mr. Fafoluyi Olayinka Solace; Commissioner for Education, Hajia Modibo Kawu; Comissioner for Information, Mrs Osatimehin, and Deputy House Leader.

The commissioner for information stated that the program is worthy of emulation.

While congratulating participants, she commended the team for a job well done.

Mrs. Osatimehin added that the state government has been supporting the organization and will definitely continue to support its programs.

Commissioner for Education, Hajia Modibo Kawu, in her words maintained that tech is the way of the future and the future is now.

She explained that not everyone can get a white collar job, but with initiative like this, we can empower ourself and build a better Nigeria.

Nasiru Abdulquadri, the C.E.O Nastv, speaking to the graduating participants, urged them to intensify their studies, increase their skill and pray regularly.

He ended his speech with a motivating quote “I have to do what I have to do, to be able to do what I love to do”.

Participants were issued certificates and the best participants were awarded. Omotosho Hikmat received the Most Outstanding scratch; Olawuyi Ibrahim emerged Most Dedicated participant, and the most creative among them was Popoola Paul Araoluwa.

Miss Aliu Blessing, one of the participants, emerged Digprom brand ambassador.
