Rouhani laments economic hazard of US sanctions on oil, petrochemical products
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has lamented the economic hazard of the US sanctions on the Iran’s exportation of oil and petrochemical products.
Rouhani said US President Donald Trump will depart with the “illusions” about Iran as he leaves the White House next month
While disclosing this on Sunday December 6, 2020, Rouhani admitted that the US sanctions have put several obstacles to the export of Iranian oil.
“Although the economic war imposed by the US put many obstacles to the export of Iranian oil and petrochemical products, the US President, Donald Trump, failed to achieve his dream of bringing the Iranian oil exports down to zero,” he noted.
Speaking on Sunday in the 185th meeting of the Cabinet’s Economic Coordination Board, Rouhani stressed the importance of rapidly increasing further oil production, Mehr News Agency reported.
“We were able to increase oil sales to more than two million barrels in a short time, and despite valuable operational tools and experience, there is still readiness today to rapidly increase further oil production,” Rouhani was quoted as saying.
He also announced the preparation of next year’s budget, saying it has been formulated in accordance with the needs of society and the people.
“From this point of view, both economic executives and the general public can receive a clear economic horizon for next year from its messages, and officials related to various economic fields can also express these messages clearly to the public.”
The Iranian president also highlighted the pressures caused by the COVID-19 pandemic as well as its repercussions, stressing that the government plans to help low-income groups as one of the important strategies in the current situation.
Last week, Vice President for Parliamentary Affairs Hossein-Ali Amiri submitted the administration’s draft of the national budget bill for the next Iranian year, which starts on March 21.
