GCC welcomes US appointment of Yemen envoy
The Gulf Cooperation Council has welcomed the United States’ appointment of an envoy to Yemen.
Which disclosing this on Sunday February 7, 2021, GCC Secretary-General Dr. Nayef al-Hajraf said the move “is a positive addition to regional and international efforts to reach the political solution called for the by the council.”
“We look forward to working together to find a comprehensive solution to the Yemeni crisis and achieving security and stability in the region,” he added.
The solution, he stressed, should be based on the Gulf initiative, national dialogue outcomes and United Nations Security Council resolution 2216.
US President Joe Biden recently named veteran US diplomat Timothy Lenderking as the US special envoy for Yemen in a bid to step up American diplomacy “to end the war in Yemen.”
