Gambia celebrates International Women’s Day, supports WEF
The Gambian President Adama Barrow has joined Gambian women to celebrate this year’s International Women’s Day.
While wishing the women a happy celebration, Barrow said the celebration was aimed at honoring the significant contributions of women to national growth and development.
“Today, on International Women’s Day, we celebrate and honour our women for their extraordinary contributions to humanity and society in general,” barrow said.
“While we reflect on the various mechanisms in place to motivate and advance the cause of women, we take pride in our country’s strides in attaining an equitable society for all women,” he added.
Barrow leveraged the avenue to support the Women Enterprise Fund initiated by his administration.
According to President, the initiative is aimed at empowering the Gambian women and make tbeir dreams of economic independence a reality.
“Since women form the backbone of society, encouraging them means more progressive and peaceful society,” Barrow said.
