Nigeria: IPO sponsors, prepares students for 2021 UTME
Ikirun Parapo Odikan, an association of Ikirun indigenes across the globe, has prepared and sponsored SS3 students for the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
The coordinator of the association, Habeebullahi Olawuyi made this disclosure to our correspondent on Friday March 26, 2021.
Olawuyi said the initiative was aimed at adequately preparing the students for this year’s examination.
According to him, the academic success of the students remains the priority of the association.
“The association came up with a concept of preparing indigenous candidates, precisely SS3 students, for the upcoming UTME examination,” he said.
He added that the programme was handled by its education committee led by the Chairman, Dr. Muhammad Ibikunle.
“Dr. Muhammad was supported by the Secretary, Adeyemi Isiaka Gbadebo, and myself,” Habeebullahi stated.
“Akinorun Grammar School Ikirun was secured as a venue, and volunteers, though paid stipends, were recruited to teach them.
“Tutorial classes were held for 2 months between December 2020 and January 2021, to prepare the students and equipped them with the right tools for the examination,” he added.
He said examinations were conducted after the two-month training and overall best candidates, about eleven of them, were chosen and sponsored for the UTME.
“Another programme is in place to fully prepare them for free Computer-based tests (CBT).
Habeebullahi noted that the selection of the candidates were witnessed by both the Principal 1, Mr Seriki, and Principal 2, Mr Fagbolagu, of Akinorun Grammar School. Also present was the President of Osun State Muslim Community, Alhaji Mustafa Olawuyi.
Some indigenous associations present were Agunbe Descendants Union and Like minds of Ikirun.
