Yemeni American community entreats Biden administration to reissue visas
The Yemeni American community has entreated the Biden administration to reissue thousands of visas to the Yemeni people.
While expressing their displeasure on Wednesday March 24, 2021, the community lamented that the Yemeni people who won visas through a diversity visa program lost them following the Trump administration’s travel ban.
It was reported that the diversity visa program sets aside 50,000 visas each year for immigrants from countries that only send a few people to the United States.
“Lottery winners are required to obtain these visas within one year of their acceptance, something that thousands of Yemeni residents were unable to do after the Trump administration’s travel ban,” the report says.
Some of the community members expressed hope for justice.
They therefore called on the Biden administration to consider “a humanitarian parole process”.
