de Blasio, Gercia and other New York elected leaders, including the labor unions have backed Eric Adams for the November mayoral race.
Eric Adams disclosed this while kicking off his campaigns for the general election on Tuesday, August 3, 2021.
In a statement, Adams expressed his appreciation to the elected leaders and labour unions that endorsed him for the election.
In his words, “To the elected leaders and labor unions who endorsed our campaign today, I’m so proud to welcome you all to TeamAdams! Here are just a few of our newest supporters.”
“While today, I was honored and humbled to receive support from every corner of our City as we kicked off our General Election campaign,” he stated.
He added that NYC must be led by a Democrat who’ll put working people first.
Further endorsing Adams, Senator Chuck Schumer said, “Borough President Adams brings decades of substantial professional bona fides and a unique lived experience to the job, and I look forward to working with him… to help New York City defeat Covid and continue its robust and just economic recovery.”
In his own words, Kirsten Gillibrand, said, “New York City is in a pivotal juncture as it recovers from the pandemic and it needs a Mayor who will fight tirelessly to rebuild it into a stronger, prosperous and equitable city. Eric Adams will lead with experience, empathy, and strength.”
“Eric’s commitment to justice, public service, and the future of New York City is primed for these times where New Yorkers need effective, focused leadership to bring us through to greener pastures,” said Gregory Meeks.
“With the support of Mayor Bill de Blasio, I look forward to delivering on the promise of a safe, secure, and more equitable future for the City that we both love, and for the people of New York whom we’ve dedicated our lives to serving,” Adams said.
Adams concluded, “New York City and New York State must work hand-in-hand as we fight our way back from COVID-19.
“I’m honored to have earned Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie’s support as we work towards a brighter future for all New Yorkers.”
