World Institute for Peace shortlists 5 Nigerian governors, academics, others for Knight of World Peace Award

The foremost Peace Institute, World Institute for Peace, has nominated five Nigerian governors, university academics, traditional rulers and others for its Knight of World Peace, (KWP).

According to the Executive Chairman of the institute, Amb. Lamina Kamiludeen, the Nigerians are being honored in recognition of the tremendous efforts in promoting culture of peace by the nominees.

Kamiludeen added that the honor is also in commemoration of the institution’s 8th anniversary at the Nigerian Army Resource Center, Abuja.

Confirming the nomination of some notable persons for the awards slated for 30th January, 2022, the award jury of the organization stated that some prominent people were selected from Nigeria, USA, India, Ghana and Senegal for the international honorary award.

The confirmation message was contained in the statement released by Amb. Lamina Kamiludeen, the Executive Chairman of the Institute while addressing corespondents during a press brief organised by the executives of the Organization on Monday January 10, 2022.

“As released by the Chairman, the nominees were picked based on researches and investigations made after their nominations,” Kamiludeen said.

The confirmed nominees are His Imperial Majesty Oba (King) Adeyeye Enitan Ojaja 2 Ooni of Ife, Gen. (Amb) T.Y Buratai, Asiwaju Khamis Badmus, HRH Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Rev. Esther Ajayi, Dr. Shaison Ouseph, Hon. Dr. Rashid Pelpuo, Hon. Abiola Makinde, Bar. Pelumi Olajengbesi, Dr. Benjamin Tetteh, Prof. Mahfouz Adedimeji, Hon. Sa’ad Namdas, Hon Auwwal Ibrahim, Amb. Michael Ignatius, Amb. Charles John, and Mr. Rotimi Omotayo.

According to him, other prominent personalities to be Inducted as Fellows of the Institute and as World Icon of Peace are HRH Oba (King) Oyelude Makama, Olowu of Kuta, HRH Oba (King) Qomardeen Adeyemi, Olororuwo of Ororuwo Prof. Sunday Abayomi, Dr. Oyeleke Ajiboye, Prof. Wasiu Oyedokun-Alli, Mr. Fatai Tijani among others.

During the event, over twenty (20) Ambassadors of the institute from around the world will join the event via zoom that will be projected (live) for the audience in the event’s hall and they shall speak within the context of the theme of the event “Building Sustainable Peace: Goals, Verifications, Strategies.

Prof. Moji Bakare-Odunola from University of Ilorin, Prof. Abayomi Sunday, Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Oye-Ekiti and Dr. Oyeleke Ajiboye are expected as the Speakers while Prof. Wasiu Oyedokun-Alli, Prof. Shaison Ouseph from India are the Contributory Speakers.
