Banjul Mayor Lowe visits Republic of Bénin, discusses gender issues, others
Banjul Mayor, Malick Lowe has visited the Republic of Bénin.
Lowe disclosed this via her Facebook page on Thursday March 2, 2023.
Today, Mayor Lowe met with the Minister for Decentralisation and Local Governance.
According to her, the meeting explained how the general assembly of REFELA Bénin took place.
“I was accompanied by the Mayor of the city of Cotonou, the president of Refela Benin Chapter and staff of the local government association of Bénin to visit the Minister in charge of Social Affairs and Microfinance,” Lowe said.
“This Ministerial Department is also in charge of gender issues in Bénin.”
Lowe added that the meeting also explained all that the Head of State, HE Patrice Talon, is doing to support the women of Bénin including women in political leadership.
“Talon assured us she will pass over our good wishes to the President of the Republic,” she stated.
She stated further, “I requested the Minister to institutionalise the grants to REFELA and to do all in his power to ensure that the number of women in political leadership can increase.
“He assured me of his willingness to do that and that not long from now the results will be available.”
