New York City Mayor Eric Adams has appointed Assistant Deputy Mayor for Public Safety Louis A. Molina as the next commissioner of the Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS).

Molina, a seasoned public servant with leadership experience across various city agencies and localities, will oversee the operational agency responsible for managing the city’s hiring and training, buildings, procurement processes, municipal vehicle fleet, and efforts to reduce carbon emissions from government operations.

Molina’s appointment was announced by Mayor Adams, who praised his “decades of experience” and “proven track record” in making government run better. First Deputy Mayor Sheena Wright and Deputy Mayor Philip Banks III also expressed their support for Molina, highlighting his dedication to public service and his ability to lead the agency in advancing the administration’s priorities.

As commissioner, Molina will focus on hiring and training the next generation of civil servants, including those in public safety roles. He will also work to make the city’s fleet safer and more sustainable. Molina’s experience in government, law enforcement, and corrections makes him well-suited for the role.

Molina’s appointment is effective immediately, and he will report to First Deputy Mayor Sheena Wright.
