Ukraine successfully shot down 51 of the 136 drones launched by Russia during a pre-dawn assault on October 16. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that the drones were intercepted over 14 regions, including Sumy, Cherkasy, and Kyiv.
“Most of them were neutralized by Ukraine’s air-defense system,” the Air Force announced via Telegram. Additionally, electronic warfare measures neutralized another 60 drones, underscoring the effectiveness of Ukraine’s military strategies amidst ongoing tensions.
In contrast, Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed its air-defense systems intercepted three Ukrainian drones, two over Belgorod and one in the Voronezh region. The latest drone barrage illustrates the continuing intensity of hostilities as both sides adapt their tactics in this prolonged conflict.
