Turkey has launched artillery attacks on several key areas in northern Syria, including ‘Ain Isa’, ‘Tal Tamr’, and the city of ‘Ain al-Arab’ (Kobani).
The attacks targeted positions held by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), a Kurdish militia supported by the United States. Local sources reported that the artillery fire primarily focused on SDF positions in Ain al-Arab and Ain Isa, although there have been no official reports of casualties or significant damage as of yet.
The timing of the attacks comes amid ongoing tensions between Turkey and the Kurdish forces. The US Department of Defense (Pentagon) announced a ceasefire agreement between Turkey and the SDF in the region around Manbij, a city in northern Syria. However, a Turkish Ministry of Defense official has firmly denied any ceasefire agreement with the US-backed Kurdish forces. “There is no talk of a ceasefire agreement between Ankara and the Kurdish armed forces,” the official stated, highlighting the ongoing friction despite the Pentagon’s announcement.
As the situation develops, the region remains on high alert, with both local and international observers closely monitoring the impact of these military actions.
