New York City Mayor Eric Adams launched a campaign to celebrate the city’s 400th anniversary, marking a major milestone in its rich history. Speaking in a year-end interview, Adams expressed pride in the city’s achievements over the past year, highlighting his administration’s progress in housing, public safety, and economic revitalization.
“Our records. My amazing deputy mayors and how they were able to move from housing to public safety to revitalizing our economy. An amazing team,” Adams said. “Thank you to them. They’re going to be dropping the ball with me tonight.”
As the city prepares for 2025, Adams reflected on his resolutions for the year ahead, emphasizing family and community values. “I was just spending some good times with my son Jordan. Jordan was performing today, and I’m hoping all of our families spend more time together. This is a moment where we should reflect on the importance of family,” he shared.
Looking ahead, Adams expressed excitement for continued progress in key areas such as the economy, housing, and employment. “We cut unemployment in many of the communities in the city. We want to continue to do that. People should see their future in this amazing city. There’s only one place to be in this country and that’s New York City.”
When asked about the upcoming anniversary, Adams revealed plans for a major celebration. “We have a 400-year anniversary celebration,” he said. “Founded by NYC, and we got a nice little video for folks to see and play as well.” The video, shown at the event, marks the beginning of a year-long celebration of New York City’s historic 400 years.
