Elon Musk, a top adviser to former President Donald Trump, has issued a stern warning to Pentagon insiders following a New York Times report alleging that the tech mogul was set to receive a confidential briefing on a potential U.S. war with China.
The report, published Thursday evening, cited anonymous American officials who claimed the Pentagon had planned to brief Musk the following day on military strategies for a possible conflict with China. The disclosure sparked immediate reactions from both the Trump administration and the Pentagon, which confirmed the scheduled meeting but flatly denied that China or any military operations would be discussed.
“China will not even be mentioned or discussed,” Trump asserted on his Truth Social platform. “How disgraceful it is that the discredited media can make up such lies. Anyway, the story is completely untrue!!!”
Musk, echoing Trump’s outrage, reposted the former president’s remarks on X, blasting the New York Times as “pure propaganda.” He then issued a direct threat to those responsible for the leaks, warning, “I look forward to the prosecution of those at the Pentagon who are leaking maliciously false information to NYT. They will be found.”
The report has intensified scrutiny over Musk’s expanding influence within U.S. government operations, particularly given his leadership at SpaceX, a major military contractor. The New York Times highlighted concerns over potential conflicts of interest as Musk continues to embed himself within the federal bureaucracy while maintaining control over his private ventures.
The uproar over the alleged briefing underscores the heightened tensions between the Trump administration, its allies, and the mainstream media, as well as ongoing concerns about leaks within the U.S. defense establishment.
