Tadej Pogaca becomes first Slovanian to win Tour de France

Slovanian rider, Tadej Pogacar, has on Sunday emerged victorious in the just concluded Tour de France becoming the first Slovanian to ever win the race at Champs Elysees avenue that had about 5,000 in attendance.

Pogacar of Team UAE Emirates, in a record-breaking win on Sunday September 20, 2020, retained the overall leader’s yellow jersey in the 21st stage that was won by Sam Bennett.

Winning the race, Pogacar became the youngest man to ever do so since Henri Cornet in 1904 with Roglic in the second place and Richie Porte clinching the third.

The Slovanian rider with his excellent performances claimed the the yellow jersey from Primoz Roglic in Saturday’s time trial.

As an Under-25 rider, Pogacar also won the white jersey for the best performance in the category, while at the same time winning in the mountain classification set as he claimed the polka dot jersey.

For the point classification, Bennett became the first Irishman to ever win the green jersey since 1989 after Sean Kelly.

As a brilliant rider, in recent Tour history, Pogacar has also won three stages in one of the most brilliant individual performances.
