New York congresswoman, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, has solicited the intervention of President Donald Trump, the President-elect, Joe Biden and other Congress members to protect about 28 children deportation.

While disclosing this on Friday November 20, 2020, Ocasio-Cortez stated “Twenty-eight children are facing deportation on Sunday after being detained by ICE for up to 15 months at the South Texas Family Residential Center and Berks County Residential Center.”

She stressed that in direct violation of federal and international law, “these children were never given the chance to seek asylum.”

The congresswoman therefore joined the children in urgently calling upon President Trump, President-elect Joe Biden, and members of Congress to intervene to protect them and their families from persecution and torture.

In a letter, one of the detainees, a 9 year old girl Marjorie, also shared her story with the Congresswoman.

“My name is Marjorie and I am 9 years old. I am from El Salvador. I have been in this place of detention in south texas for 15 months already.

“With these simple words [I ask] that you help my mom and me to leave and be able to reunite with my family in Los Angeles California.

“Please I don’t want to spend another Christmas or another birthday in this place without being able to play freely and with the fear of being deported.

“I ask you to know and understand our suffering, we have been locked up here for so long,” Marjorie wrote.
