El-Mohamedy becomes 1st Egyptian footballer to play 200 matches in Premier League
Egyptian prominent midfielder, Ahmed Elmohamady, has become the first-ever Egyptian professional player in the English Premier League history to play 200 games.
It was reported on Monday March 22, 2021, that the maven defender has returned to Villa’s starting XI to replace the injured English Matty Cash, “starting the last four games and helping the club keep clean sheets against Leeds and Wolves.”
The skillful player had joined the Aston Villa side from Hull City club in 2017, helping them secure promotion to the Premier League in 2019 after defeating Derby County 2-1 in the dramatic playoff match.
On the other hand, Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah could become the second Egyptian player to 200 games near the end of the season if all goes well. He requires nearly 20 matches to get there.
