NY Judiciary, legislative leaders mourn former assemblymember Aurelia Greene
Speaker Carl Heastie has mourned the demise of former assemblymember Aurelia Greene.
While offering her condolences to the family of the late Assemblymember in a statement on Monday May 10, 2021, Heastie stated that Greene’s death was a great loss.
“It is with great sadness that I learned of the passing of a true friend und community stalwart, former assemblymember Aurelia Greene,” the statement reads.
“While representing the 77 Assembly District in the Bronx for over 20 years, she dedicated her life to the betterment of our borough and the entirety of our state. She continued that steadfast service to her
community when she became deputy Bronx borough president in 2009, ” she added.
She extended her condolences to Aurelia’s friends and family, and prayed that they find comfort during this time.
“I know that those who knew her will forever cherish the many great memories we shared with her, and will strive to continue the legacy she has left behind,” she concluded.
Expressing her condolences, New York Attorney General, Letitia James said, “I am saddened to learn of the passing of former Assemblymember Aurelia Greene.”
She commented that “Greene dedicated her life to serving the Bronx, New York City, and our entire state.”
“She was a trailblazer, and I offer my deepest condolences to her family and loved ones,” Letitia added.
