Lockdown Litanies by Sultana Raza

0

Sultana Raza writes of the hope that covid lockdowns could provide opportunities for growth and new values.

Have we collectively lost our luck?

Will unemployment rise, small businesses close?

Corona has taught some to dance on their toes.

With gloves, mask sales, some are making big bucks.

When will begin the end of these woes?

On financial horizon, grey clouds loom,

In sunny days, freelancers face doom.

Of their own meds will Big Pharma get a dose?

The gentry can’t imagine how the homeless live;

With blue jobless dread, grey bread some bake

Some have no cheese naan, so they eat cakes.

Sand falls too slowly from time’s sieve.

Locked down with abusers, how can we rescue,

Millions of females? Unless we bring up sons

With quality time, impart the right values,

Give them pens, or crayons instead of toy guns.
