Activists declare June 21st National Community Organizers Day to recognize selfless Contributions

A group of community organizers has come together to create National Community Organizers Day (NCOD), a day of celebration and recognition for those who selflessly work to improve the quality of life for others.

According to the Founders of the organisation, the inaugural day will be held on June 21st, 2023, with plans for annual celebrations to follow.

These leaders hope to elevate community organizing to the same level of respect as legislative work.

To achieve this, they plan to secure proclamations and bills recognizing NCOD from political leaders at the local, state, and national levels, while also seeking support from influential figures such as clergy, educators, professionals, entrepreneurs, and celebrities.

In addition to recognition, the NCOD founders hope to expand and strengthen community organizing through the WolfPack concept, celebrating and honoring community organizers on June 21st annually.

“We oftentimes don’t get salaries, no accolades, no promotions and no pensions, but we still do it for the love of community,” said the founders in a statement.

“This is why we’ve decided to patriotically designate June 21st the annual ‘National Community Organizers Day’ to celebrate and acknowledge the importance of community organizing and the immense contributions of selfless community organizers in improving the quality of our lives.”

The NCOD founders are encouraging interested individuals to join the National Community Organizers Day Facebook group to learn more about the initiative and connect with like-minded individuals.

They also plan to expand NCOD to other cities, states, and counties, with the ultimate goal of making community organizing as respected and celebrated as legislative work.

The founders include Sheikh Musa Drammeh, Gene Edwards, Bishop Angelo Rosario, Bishop Nancy Rosario, David Coulibaly, Regina Edwards, Daniel Osorio, Carolyn, Shireena Drammeh, Naquawn Hallback, Adama Bah, Power Malu, Mutiu Olawuyi, Dr. Gloria Bent, Mory Kouyate, Tehilal Eisenstaedt-Feil, Efrain Gonzalez, Christopher Waller and Denis Oswald Denis.

The second NCOD meeting was scheduled to be held on Wednesday, March 29th, 2023, on Zoom.

The founders hope to continue building momentum for the initiative and encourage more people to get involved in community organizing and make a positive impact on their communities.
