Russian Ambassador to India, Denis Alipov, met with Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to explore potential business partnerships.

Russian Ambassador to India, Denis Alipov, met with Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to explore potential business partnerships. The Friday meeting centered on expanding economic ties between the northern Indian state and various Russian provinces.
Alipov took to X (formerly Twitter) to share details of the meeting, calling the discussions “fruitful” and highlighting the vast potential for collaboration. “The scope for expanding business ties between Himachal and Russian provinces is immense and inspiring,” Alipov remarked, underscoring the shared optimism for future initiatives.
This dialogue comes on the heels of increased diplomatic engagement between Russia and India. In July, Alipov noted the importance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Russia, during which Modi held a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. That summit covered pressing global and regional issues, while also reaffirming the depth of the bilateral relationship between the two nations.
Reflecting on that visit, Alipov emphasized its significance, stating, “We have welcomed the Prime Minister to Russia. This visit is significant for discussing global and regional matters, and most importantly, for reviewing our extensive bilateral relationship.”

Alipov also pointed to ongoing projects between the two countries in sectors such as oil and gas, defense, and culture, all areas ripe for further collaboration. He expressed enthusiasm about Prime Minister Modi’s expected participation in the upcoming BRICS summit, where further diplomatic exchanges will take place.
The meeting with Chief Minister Sukhu signals Russia’s growing interest in forging partnerships at the state level, particularly in regions like Himachal Pradesh, which is known for its industries in agriculture, tourism, and energy. This effort complements broader national dialogues and may open new avenues for both nations to deepen ties beyond the central government level.
As Alipov remarked, “We are anticipating a high-level delegation visit from Russia to India,” signaling a continued push for bilateral engagement across multiple sectors.
