New York City Mayor Eric Adams issued a statement today following an address by New York Governor Kathy Hochul. In his statement, Mayor Adams emphasized his dedication to the values of New York City’s working-class communities, reaffirming his commitment to upholding the principles he was elected to represent.

“I was elected by the people of New York City and its working-class communities to uphold their values — and that is what our administration has done,” said Adams. He added, “While there is no legal basis for limiting New Yorkers’ power by limiting the authority of my office, I have told the governor, as we have done in the past, that I am willing to work with her to ensure faith in our government is strong. I look forward to continuing those conversations.”

The mayor’s statement reflects his ongoing commitment to collaboration with Governor Hochul, despite differences, in an effort to strengthen public trust in the state’s leadership.
