The United States has imposed new sanctions on China’s Guangsha Zhoushan Energy Group, accusing the company of violating US sanctions on Iran.

The US Department of State announced Thursday that Guangsha Zhoushan’s crude oil and petroleum products terminal on Huangzeshan Island in Zhoushan, China, has repeatedly facilitated the acquisition of Iranian crude.

According to the US government, the company knowingly engaged in a significant transaction by allowing the discharge of Iranian crude oil at its terminal, with the US-designated tanker Snow unloading approximately 2 million barrels of Iranian oil in August 2021.

The tanker, linked to the National Iranian Tanker Company, is also subject to US sanctions. The sanctions come as part of the US’s ongoing efforts to enforce its sanctions on Iran’s oil exports.
