College Point community leaders and business owners have discussed climate change and rising sea levels in the coastal community with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
While disclosing this via her Facebook page, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez expressed delight in the opportunity to meet the leadership and business owners of the coastal community.
“Thank you to the small business owners and community leaders of College Point who took the time to show Team AOC around the neighborhood!” Ocasio-Cortez said.
“We had meaningful discussions about the importance of addressing climate change and rising sea levels in our coastal community, and spent the time listening to our neighbors concerns about the future of the community’s small business landscape and how that impacts our neighborhood as a whole,” she added.
She also appreciated some of the business owners who spoke to the team.
“Big shout out to Genaro’s Pizzeria and Restaurant, Aspire Salon, and College Point Barber Shop for taking time to speak with us, and thank you to the leaders of A Better College Point, College Point Civic / Taxpayers Association, and Coastal Preservation Network for making us feel so welcome!” she concluded.
