My two years in office, a blessing to my constituency — Hon Afolabi
Celebrating his two years of quality representation, Hon Olalekan Afolabi, who represents Boripe Ifelodun Federal Constituency in Osun State, stated that his accomplishments within his two years in office as a member of the House of Representatives is a blessing to his constituency.
While expressing gratitude to his constituents and the political leaders, Hon Afolabi leveraged the moment to itemize his significant achievements so far. He stressed that representing the people of Boripe Ifelodun has afforded him an opportunity to promote significant growth and developments.
Enumerating his achievements as a member of the House of Representatives, the lawmaker stated that he sponsored a bill for the establishment of Federal College of Education (Technical), Ikirun.
He also sponsored another bill for the establishment of Federal University of Agriculture, Ikirun. “The bill is at the second reading stage and hopefully shall come to fruition,” Hon Afolabi said.
“I also sponsored a bill for the establishment of Entrepreneurship Bank for our youth to get access to finance for their businesses ideas.
Another laudable achievement among his several legislative roles was the motion moved for the resuscitation of the abandoned UCH Health Centre in Okuku.
“In order to maintain constant close relationship with my constituency and get feedback as and when due, I engaged over 50 aides from Ifelodun, Boripe and Odo-Otin Federal Constituency.
“Since July 2019 to date, these aides are all under my services and payroll, the lawmaker added.
He added, “I maintain constant appearance and respond to community calls and services across all the towns and villages in our federal constituency. My mobile hotline is truly hotline. To me, every call is important.”
As a man of his people, Afolabi regularly visits his constituency and consults with different stakeholders and leaders in order to attend to their urgent needs.
Prominent among his social intervention programs was the training organised for over 700 youth and women on digital data marketing and skill acquisition. The training included tie and dye making, sanitizer making, cake baking and hair braiding.
“After the training, funds were provided to the beneficiaries of the training in order to start their businesses,” Afolabi affirmed.
“I facilitated the supply and installation of a brand new transformer for the people of Orisumbare, Adeyoola Estate, Eko Ende Road, Ikirun, Osun.
“Apart from that, I assisted with the repair and maintenance of more than 12 transformers in our federal constituency,” Afolabi said.
A tangible educational project was the facilitation of complete fencing of NUD Primary School, Ikirun and reconstruction of block of classrooms with learning equipment.
Other projects included drilling of borehole for the people of Ajegunle Oke Odo Community, Ajetunmobi Area, Ikirun, facilitation of federal government grants to artisans and vocational groups, and facilitation of N-Power jobs for more than 50 youth in Ifelodun/ Boripe and Odo-Otin Federal Constituency.
