President Donald Trump has called on SpaceX and its CEO, Elon Musk, to bring home two NASA astronauts who have been stranded on the International Space Station (ISS) since June.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump claimed that astronauts Sunita “Suni” Williams and Barry “Butch” Wilmore had been “virtually abandoned in space by the Biden administration” and had been waiting “for many months.” He expressed hope that Musk’s company would intervene, wishing him “good luck.”

Musk confirmed the request in a post on X, stating, “We will do so,” in response to Trump’s plea to bring the astronauts home “as soon as possible.”

NASA, SpaceX, and the White House have not yet commented on the matter. Reports indicate that NASA initially planned for their return in February but revised the timeline in December, pushing it to late March alongside two other astronauts currently aboard the ISS.

The extended mission stems from a malfunction in Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft, which was originally meant to bring them home. Despite the delay, NASA has assured the public that the astronauts are in good health and their time in orbit remains within safe limits.

Trump’s involvement comes as Musk leads the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a commission the president created on his first day in office to eliminate wasteful spending.
