The National Association of Letter Carriers has endorsed Joe Biden’s presidential ambition saying that the Presidential candidate and his running mate, Kamala Harris have showed dedication and commitment towards the betterment of letter carrier services.

While confirming the endorsement on Friday August 14, 2020, Fredric Rolando, the President of NALC, a union with 300,000 workers, including active and retired ones, said Vice President Biden will continue to be a fierce ally and defender of the United States Postal Service letter carriers, and our fellow postal brothers and sisters.”

“Together, Biden and Harris fully exhibit the experience, dedication, thoughtfulness and steady hands that will work to ensure that letter carriers and working families are put first,” added Rolando.

Giving the force behind their endorsement of Biden, Rolando stated that during the pandemic when the postal service faced the most formidable challenges, Trump administration has refused to render the much needed aid.

“This pandemic threatens the very survival of USPS,” Rolando said.

“Yet, while postal employees are on the front lines providing essential services to the public every day, the current administration refuses to provide the necessary financial relief that would strengthen the agency during this pandemic,” he added.

The endorsement comes a day following President Trump’s objection to the postal service funding raised by Democrats.

Trump said the fund was to garner votes via mail-in-voting.

Speaking further, Rolando shed more light on while a large number of postal workers have endorsed Biden.

He said that their decision was partly informed by what we have seen from the current administration with regards to the Postal Service.

Meanwhile, Trump has earlier opposed Biden’s financial aid of $3.6 billion for equipping mail-in-service, and $25 billion in aid to keep the Postal Service effective and running.

Speaking on Fox Business Network, Trump condemned the financial aid.

He said, “Now they need that money in order to have the Post Office work so it can take all of these millions and millions of ballots. Now, in the meantime, they aren’t getting there.”

“By the way, those are just two items,”. “But if they don’t get those two items, that means you can’t have universal mail-in voting, because they’re not equipped to have it,” he added.
