BCC mayoress introduces biometric attendance to promote staff efficiency

The Mayoress of the Banjul City Council, Rohey Malick Lowe, has introduced biometric attendance to staff.

While disclosing this via her Facebook page on Friday April 16, 2021, the mayoress stated that the initiative is aimed at promoting efficiency among the City Council staff.

“We deemed it necessary for the staff to be clocking in and out of work in a form of finger print or passcode,” she wrote on her page.

“We are very optimistic that this will add value to the institution as it gives quick access to information and reports that shows attendance,” she added.

Commending the initiative, a Gambian, Kasum Manjang, said, “This is fantastic initiative many of public institutions must emulate.”

He added, “In the Gambia, with the amount of time and resources wasted by civil servants on time keeping, this will certainly enhance productivity and quality. Keep it up!”

Also appreciating the Mayoress, Alfusainey Manneh, wrote, “This is positive Madam Lord Mayoress. It’s the first of it’s kind in our institutions.

He added that electronic or digital registration is very much needed in “our institutions for punctuality and staff discipline at workplace”.
