First & foremost note that as if this writing ,” absentee ballots” have not been counted yet. The ” official” results will be out in another two weeks but as you will learn below, unlike the ” Primary” election, it will mean little in this ” General” election.

The Bronx General elections ,these days, do not mean anything. The real question is: Who is the strongest , where is the strength on the local Democratic side & how much is the Republican party collapsing.

Let’s answer the first question

On the Bronx Democratic local side :

The winners were:

Althea Stevens 91%

Amanda C Farias 89% *

Pierina Sanchez 89% *

Oswald Feliz 84% *

Eric Dinowitz 81%

Vanessa L. Gibson 80%

Rafael Salamanca Jr. 80%

Marjorie Valazquez 56%

Well we’re sure everyone is taking a bow but frankly it shows that while Bronx County Democrats have a strong hold on the Southern side of The Bronx, there is a 12% decrease when you go to the Northwest and a 34% decrease when you get to the Northeast. Not counting the Boro Presidents race, Bronx Council candidates received on average, 82%. Councilpeople Stevens, Farias Sanchez & Feliz ( *in full disclosure NWBx Dems supported the latter three) bolted the ticket upwards with a combined average of 88%, a additional 7% increase. As a matter of fact ( not counting Gibson) the bottom three ( Eric , Majorie , Rafael) averaged 72%, a 13% decrease than the average and close to a 20% decrease from the top 4.

Talking about The Northeast will bring me to the second question: the collapse of the Republican party!. The answer is Yes & No & Yes.

While the Northeast received Republican support of 44% , take out that part and on average , the Republican party was pushing 13%

Another notable exception was in the Northwest,  where 20% was received. In total,  Bronxwide, Republicans received 16%

Which means any independent or conservative candidate that gets 3% of the vote of better—- actually did a hell of job!. Local Council candidate Lattina Brown & Boro Pres candidate Sammy Ravelo reached on avg 7% of the vote and deserves congratulations.

But in the end:

Democrats 81%

Republican 16%

Independent 3%

That’s an 8 to 1 ratio!. Do we need local General elections anymore?
