London lit up to welcome Ramadan, says Mayor Khan

The city of London has been lit up to welcome the the holy month of Ramadan.

The Mayor of London City, Sadiq Khan, disclosed this while displaying pictorial aesthetics of the city via his Facebook page on Tuesday March 21, 2023.

Khan noted that this is the first time the holy month of Ramadan will be welcomed with such beautification.

“For the first time ever the West End is being lit up by a beautiful display of lights to mark Ramadan,” Khan said.

He added, “It was an honour to switch them on officially this evening ahead of the start of Ramadan.

“London is now the first major city in Europe to host a spectacular light display like this to mark Ramadan. It’s a true symbol of how our capital celebrates our diversity.”

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. It is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting prayer and reflection.
