The Iranian government has confirmed that indirect talks with the United States are continuing, albeit through the Swiss embassy in Tehran rather than the previously used Omani route. This development comes after Iran temporarily suspended the “Muscat process,” a diplomatic channel focused on nuclear issues, due to heightened regional tensions.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghaei stated that while communications through Oman have been paused, dialogue with the U.S. has not entirely ceased. “Currently, the Muscat process is on hold due to regional conditions, and we don’t see a basis for these talks right now,” Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said during a recent diplomatic visit to Oman.

Despite the suspension, the Swiss embassy remains a key intermediary, keeping the door open for message exchanges. Araghchi hinted that talks could resume once the “special circumstances” in the region ease, leaving room for future diplomatic engagement between the two adversaries.

This pause highlights the delicate balance of Iran’s foreign relations amid rising tensions, as both nations navigate complex geopolitical landscapes while keeping indirect communication channels alive.
