JetBlue has officially launched service from Long Island MacArthur Airport (ISP), delivering on its long-anticipated promise to connect Long Islanders directly to Florida.
JetBlue has officially launched service from Long Island MacArthur Airport (ISP), delivering on its long-anticipated promise to connect Long Islanders directly to Florida. The new routes include daily flights to Orlando and four flights weekly to both West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale, marking a strategic expansion for New York’s “Hometown Airline.”
“We are delighted to bring the long-awaited JetBlue experience to Long Island,” said Daniel Shurz, head of revenue, network, and enterprise planning at JetBlue. “These flights are a testament to JetBlue’s loyal customer base on Long Island who have frequently traveled to New York’s other airports to fly JetBlue. Customers no longer have to choose between the convenience of their local airport and the comfort, connectivity, and customer service they enjoy with JetBlue.”
The launch drew applause from New York officials, including U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer, who emphasized the service’s potential economic impact. “With JetBlue beginning flights from Islip to Orlando, West Palm Beach, and Fort Lauderdale, Long Islanders have more convenient service to Florida, and our local economy will benefit with new jobs and increased tourism,” Schumer said, adding that he’s long encouraged JetBlue’s expansion at MacArthur Airport.
Town of Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter shared her enthusiasm: “This JetBlue inaugural flight to Orlando is what dreams are made of. Long Islanders are passionate about JetBlue and have been asking for the airline to serve Islip’s MacArthur Airport for years. Today, those wishes come true.”
The Long Island launch is part of a broader JetBlue strategy to dominate the East Coast market by building a presence at all major New York airports. Alongside operations at JFK, LaGuardia, Newark Liberty, and Westchester County, the Long Island routes expand JetBlue’s service reach across the state. By February, JetBlue will offer more than 225 daily flights to Florida, with a projected eight percent increase in peak departures from the Sunshine State compared to last year.
JetBlue’s winter plans include additional routes from Syracuse, Albany, and Buffalo, and an increase of 20% in seats across New England, further strengthening its position in some of the nation’s most popular leisure destinations.
