Billionaire tech mogul Elon Musk join Trump campaign in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, delivering a stark warning about the future of American democracy.
Musk, the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla and owner of X, emphasized that the upcoming presidential election is a critical juncture, stating that Donald Trump is the only candidate capable of preserving democracy in the U.S.
“This will be the last election” if Trump doesn’t win, Musk declared, donning a “Make America Great Again” cap. His remarks underscored the urgency he perceives in the political landscape. “As you can see, I am not just MAGA – I am Dark MAGA,” he added, further highlighting his commitment to Trump’s campaign.
This rally marked a significant moment in the burgeoning alliance between Musk and Trump, as the tech titan recently established a super political action committee dedicated to supporting the Republican nominee, pouring substantial resources into get-out-the-vote efforts. Trump has also hinted at appointing Musk to lead a government efficiency commission should he return to the White House.
Musk’s appearance comes on the heels of a lengthy public discussion with Trump on X in August, during which the former president touched on topics such as his recent assassination attempt, illegal immigration, and plans to streamline government regulations.

Addressing a large crowd, Musk framed Trump as a defender of free speech, claiming that Democrats seek to undermine essential freedoms: “They want to take away your freedom of speech, they want to take away your right to bear arms, they want to take away your right to vote, effectively.” He specifically criticized a California initiative aimed at eliminating voter ID requirements.
The rally was held at the site where a gunman’s bullets narrowly missed Trump during a July event, which resulted in the tragic death of Trump supporter Corey Comperatore and left several others injured. Many attendees, including members of Comperatore’s family and first responders from that event, returned to the site to commemorate the occasion.
Joining Trump on stage were several prominent figures, including his running mate, Republican Senator JD Vance of Ohio, son Eric Trump, daughter-in-law and RNC co-chair Lara Trump, along with various Pennsylvania lawmakers and local sheriffs.
This event, highlighting Musk’s escalating involvement in the political arena, reflects a significant shift in the dynamics of the 2024 presidential race, as two of the most influential figures in their respective domains rally supporters for a cause they deem existential.
