Iran, Russia, and Turkey issued a joint statement Tuesday condemning what they described as “the crimes of the Zionist regime” against Palestinians in Gaza, as well as attacks on Lebanon and Syria.
The statement, released during the 16th round of Astana Talks on Syria, criticized Israel’s actions as “a violation of international law” and called for an immediate ceasefire.
The three nations denounced Israel’s operations in Gaza as “genocide” and called for an end to hostilities in the West Bank, Lebanon, and Syria, urging international action to de-escalate the conflict. “The aggressive actions of the Zionist regime in West Asia not only violate international laws but threaten the stability of the region,” the statement said.
Emphasizing the broader impact of the conflict, the nations noted that rising violence in the region could worsen the situation in Syria. They further called on the United Nations to support Lebanese refugees in Syria displaced by the escalating hostilities and highlighted the need for a peaceful resolution.
The joint statement also underscored the importance of “continuing efforts to normalize relations between Ankara and Damascus” as part of a long-term peace strategy. The nations agreed to focus on stabilizing Syria’s Idlib region, where humanitarian needs are critical.
In their closing remarks, Iran, Russia, and Turkey reiterated a commitment to regional stability, urging all parties involved to prioritize diplomacy and humanitarian relief.
