Israeli military actions across the occupied West Bank on Sunday left several Palestinians injured and many homes ransacked, escalating tensions in the region. The incidents spanned from Nablus in the north to Bethlehem and Hebron in the south, sparking protests and confrontations.
In Yatma town, south of Nablus, Israeli soldiers stormed the area in the evening, prompting residents to protest. “The soldiers fired tear gas and concussion grenades without any warning,” said local resident Ahmad Salah. “We were simply standing up for our community, but they attacked us with no regard for our safety.” Media sources confirmed that many suffered from tear gas inhalation during the incursion.
In Beit Fajjar, south of Bethlehem, Israeli forces detained and brutally assaulted a former prisoner, Ali Al-Ajouri, 26, at a military roadblock near Tuqu’. “They stopped his car for no reason, dragged him out, and beat him relentlessly,” said Muhammad Hamida, head of the Prisoners’ and Former Prisoners’ Association. “Ali told us that the soldiers didn’t even provide any justification for their actions; they just wanted to intimidate him.”
Al-Ajouri, who was released after several hours, described the ordeal as harrowing. “They humiliated me in front of everyone at the checkpoint. They hit me with their rifles and kicked me repeatedly,” he said. “This is how they treat us, even after we have served our time.”
In Silat al-Harithiya, northwest of Jenin, Israeli forces launched a dawn raid that sparked fierce resistance from locals and Palestinian fighters. “They came in with armored vehicles and infantry troops,” said a local resident who requested anonymity. “We could hear gunfire in the streets as resistance fighters tried to defend the town.” The confrontation left the area tense, though no injuries were reported.
Meanwhile, in the Hebron governorate, Israeli soldiers raided homes in several towns and villages, including As-Samu’, Khursa, and Beit Kahil, early Sunday morning.
“The soldiers came in shouting, breaking down doors, and searching every corner of our house,” said Mahmoud Abu Khalil, a resident of Khursa. “They left everything in chaos, and when I asked why, they just ignored me and left.”
Despite the intensity of the raids, no arrests were reported in Hebron. “They don’t always arrest; sometimes, they just want to remind us of their power,” added Abu Khalil.
These incidents are the latest in a series of escalations, reflecting the ongoing volatility in the West Bank. “This is not about security,” Hamida emphasized. “It’s about collective punishment and control, and it’s happening every day in our towns and villages.”
