Taiwan strengthens trade, investment push in Africa

Speaking at the event, Wu emphasized Taiwan’s commitment to Africa despite its international challenges. “Taiwan’s experience in industrial development and technology can serve as a valuable blueprint for African nations striving for economic growth,” he said. Highlighting recent milestones, Wu added, “The establishment of representative offices in Somaliland and the Ivory Coast demonstrates Taiwan’s dedication to fostering meaningful partnerships in Africa.”
TABA Chair Lin Yuan reinforced Wu’s message, describing Africa as a region brimming with potential. “Africa is projected to be the fastest-growing market in the world over the next decade. Taiwanese businesses must act now to secure a foothold,” Lin said. He stressed TABA’s role in supporting entrepreneurs, noting, “We are here to help Taiwanese companies navigate African markets and establish enduring relationships.”
TABA member and business executive Chang Wei-Lun shared his optimism about Africa’s untapped opportunities. “I’ve seen firsthand how African nations are eager for partnerships that bring innovation and investment. Taiwanese companies have so much to offer, from technology to manufacturing expertise,” Chang remarked.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated its dedication to supporting businesses entering African markets. “We are committed to helping Taiwanese companies succeed in Africa by building robust networks and offering government backing,” Wu said, adding, “Africa is not just a market—it is a partner in progress.”
TABA, founded in 1997, continues to foster trade between Taiwan and Africa through its efforts to build business networks, facilitate information exchange, and protect Taiwanese interests. Lin concluded, “With over 120 member companies, TABA will ensure that Taiwanese entrepreneurs are equipped to seize the immense opportunities Africa offers.”
