The U.S. Department of State has appointed Massad Boulos as the Senior Advisor for Africa, further expanding his role in international affairs. Boulos, who also serves as Senior Advisor to the President on Arab and Middle Eastern Affairs, will now take on a crucial position focused on diplomatic and economic engagement across the African continent.

As part of his new responsibilities, Boulos will embark on a high-level diplomatic mission alongside Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Corina Sanders. Their tour, beginning April 3, will include visits to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Rwanda, Kenya, and Uganda.

During the trip, Boulos and his team will engage with Heads of State and key business leaders, aiming to foster stability in the eastern DRC—an area long plagued by conflict. Their discussions will center on “advancing efforts for durable peace” while also promoting U.S. private sector investment in the region.

The appointment underscores Washington’s commitment to deepening its strategic and economic partnerships in Africa. With Boulos at the helm, the United States aims to strengthen diplomatic ties and expand business opportunities across the continent.
