Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov has denounced threats made by former U.S. President Donald Trump against Iran, calling Washington’s approach improper and dangerous. In an interview with The International Affairs magazine, Ryabkov criticized the United States for using ultimatums and threats of force, arguing that such tactics are an attempt to impose its will on Tehran.
“Indeed, threats are being heard, and ultimatums, too. We view such methods as improper, and we condemn them as we see this as a way of imposing [U.S.] will on Iran,” Ryabkov stated.
He warned that escalating tensions could have serious consequences, requiring greater efforts to prevent a wider crisis in the Middle East. “The latest threat risks aggravating the situation and causing effects that would require much more efforts to prevent the danger of another hotbed of tensions, or, God forbid, conflict erupting in the Middle East,” he said.
Ryabkov emphasized that Moscow advocates for a different approach, urging diplomacy over confrontation. “And we propose an alternative path,” the senior Russian diplomat concluded.
