Israel claims that it has destroyed about 80% of Syria’s military capability after launching massive attacks on its military installations. The Syrian army was severely degraded as a result of these attacks, which attacked missile sites, air defense systems, naval troops, and aircraft.
Israeli military sources claim that the new sites include infrastructure that can survive harsh weather conditions and are built for long-term deployment. Without giving a timeframe for its departure, the Israeli government has said that its soldiers would stay in the region for whatever long is required.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated that the military would be in place until at least the end of 2025 while on a visit to Mount Hermon. He underlined that this development is consistent with Israel’s aggressive defense posture, especially given the abrupt fall of the Assad government and the continued uncertainty surrounding possible regional enemies.
Seven of the nine newly created military locations are in the occupied Golan Heights, while two are on Mount Hermon. These sites reinforce Israel’s defensive buffer zone along the Syrian border by acting as centers for security and surveillance.
In neighboring Syrian communities, Israeli soldiers have been regularly patrolling, executing night raids, and seizing weapons. The military is still looking for more firearms, even though some residents have willingly turned up their guns.
Israeli military have mostly avoided going into villages in an effort to ease tensions and lessen animosity among the local populace. Israel is trying to let Syrian citizens live their regular lives without curfews or limitations on their mobility, in contrast to the West Bank, where the Israeli presence is more harsh.
Despite diplomatic overtures from Syrian leader Ahmed Al-Sharaa to Western nations, Israel remains cautious and prepared for potential threats. Reports indicate the presence of former ISIS operatives in the area, raising concerns about future hostilities.
While no immediate attacks have been detected, the Israeli military intends to maintain its presence in the buffer zone until a clearer security picture emerges. Forces remain on high alert, ready to respond to any threats that may arise.
